High blood pressure ? doing this exercise everyday will lower your risk of hypertension


High blood pressure, or hypertension, affects more than one in every four adults in the UK, according to the NHS.

If your blood pressure is too high, it puts extra strain on your blood vessels, heart and other vital organs.

 Having high blood pressure increases your risk of heart disease, strokes and heart attacks.

But, you could lower your risk of hypertension by stair-climbing, scientists have revealed.


Climbing stairs could help to lower blood pressure without patients having to leave the house, said researchers.

They were looking for the ideal exercise for hypertensive postmenopausal with oestrogen deficiencies. They are more susceptible to vascular and muscle problems, so need to keep active.

 While some high-intensity exercises provide the right amount of muscle growth, it could also raise their blood pressure.

 But, climbing 192 steps two to five times a day could reduce blood pressure and arterial stiffness, while boosting leg strength.



“This study demonstrates how simple lifestyle interventions such as stair climbing can be effective in preventing or reducing the negative effects of menopause and age on the vascular system and leg muscles of postmenopausal women with hypertension,” said researcher Dr JoAnn Pinkerton.

 Exercise is a great way to manage high blood pressure, said medical website Patient.info.

Becoming more active can lower your systolic blood pressure by as much as 4-9mmHg, it claimed.

Golf is a great choice for patients, as players walk as much as eight miles over the course of 18 holes.


If your blood pressure is extremely high, you may be showing signs of the condition. Severe headaches, chest pain and vision problems may be signs of hypertension.

 The only way of finding out whether you have high blood pressure is to get it checked, the NHS said.

All adults over 40 are advised to have their blood pressure checked at least every five years.

Smoking very dangerous for skin


There is growing evidence that people living with psoriasis ought to be extra careful before lighting up a cigarette.

Before we dig into why one should put down the cigarette, let's be clear: Quitting smoking doesn't cure psoriasis, but smoking aggravates the symptoms and may make the disease significantly worse.

 According to Dr.Abir Saraswat, National Coordinator, Special Interest Group - Psoriasis, Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists (IADVL), "Smoking in general is a huge risk factor for developing psoriasis, affecting the onset of psoriasis and its clinical appearance. Moreover, many psoriasis patients tend to smoke to cope with the emotional and mental implications of the disease - such as stress or anxiety - which negatively affect psoriasis. This vicious circle of stress and smoking triggers the disease even further."

 According to a study, smoking doubles a person's risk of developing psoriasis which eventually increases with the number of cigarettes smoked per day. This number is higher in women than men.
The risk for psoriasis in women who smoke more than 20 cigarettes per day is about 2.5 times greater than that in non-smokers. For men, the risk is about 1.7 times greater than non-smokers.

 • Smoking can reduce the level of moisture in your skin, making it dry and itchy.

 • If you don't smoke, don't start, especially if you are a woman - you have an even higher risk of developing psoriasis than men.

• If you do smoke, consider quitting - you may have a higher likelihood of remission.

 • Focus on positive, healthy ways to cope with stress and anxiety - try meditation, counselling, sleep adequately, eat healthy and exercise, instead of smoking. -It's never too late to stop It is not easy to quit smoking or tobacco but it's definitely worth trying to improve overall health. The study that found smoking increases risk of psoriasis, also showed that giving up significantly reduced the risk of psoriasis - after 20 years it was at the same level as people who had never lighted a cigarette in their life. In fact, one may see an improvement in their skin in a matter of weeks as blood flow improves, and levels of nutrients are restored.
